The 1.8 Inch SPI TFT LCD Display Module – 128×160 Pixels is a compact full-color graphical display module designed for displaying text, images, graphics, icons, sensor readings, menus, and user-interface elements in embedded electronics projects. The module commonly uses the ST7735 or ST7735S TFT display controller and communicates with a microcontroller through the SPI serial interface.
The display features a resolution of 128 × 160 pixels and supports full RGB color output. ST7735-based versions can support up to 262,144 colors (18-bit color) at the controller level, allowing the display to produce colorful graphics and detailed visual information in a small form factor.
The SPI communication interface significantly reduces the number of microcontroller pins required compared with parallel-interface TFT displays. Common connections include SCK, SDA/MOSI, CS, RESET, and A0/DC, along with power and backlight connections. This makes the module suitable for microcontrollers with limited GPIO availability.
Many commonly available breakout-board versions operate from 3.3V to 5V, while bare display panels may require a 3.3V supply and logic levels. Some module variants also include an onboard MicroSD card slot that can be used for storing images, icons, configuration files, and other project data.
The display is suitable for Arduino, ESP32, ESP8266, STM32, Raspberry Pi Pico, RP2040, Raspberry Pi, PIC, AVR, and other SPI-capable development platforms. It is widely used in portable instruments, sensor displays, IoT dashboards, robotics interfaces, battery monitors, weather stations, and DIY electronic devices.
