
The 2 Channel 5V Relay Module with Optocoupler Protection is a dual-channel switching module designed to control two AC or DC electrical loads independently using low-voltage signals from a microcontroller or digital control circuit. The module operates from a 5V DC supply and typically uses two SPDT electromechanical relays, each providing Normally Open (NO), Normally Closed (NC), and Common (COM) contacts.
The module features optocoupler isolation between the control inputs and relay-driving circuitry, helping improve noise immunity and protect the control side from electrical disturbances generated during relay switching. Common versions also include transistor relay drivers, flyback protection, relay status LEDs, screw terminals, and a VCC/JD-VCC jumper arrangement that can allow separate power supplies for the input and relay coil sections.
Each relay channel can typically switch loads up to 10A at 250VAC or 10A at 30VDC for resistive loads, subject to the ratings of the actual relay fitted to the board. The module is commonly used with Arduino, ESP32, STM32, Raspberry Pi, PIC, AVR, and other microcontrollers for home automation, lighting control, appliance switching, pump control, motor control, and industrial automation projects.
