FAQ

1. What is a 5K ohm rotary potentiometer used for?

A 5K ohm rotary potentiometer is used to control voltage, current, or signal levels in electronic circuits, commonly in audio control, dimming, and speed regulation applications.

2. What does the 16mm size indicate?

The 16mm refers to the diameter of the potentiometer body, making it a standard size suitable for panel mounting and general-purpose applications.

3. How does a 5K potentiometer work?

It works as a variable resistor with three terminals. Rotating the shaft moves the internal wiper along the resistive track, changing the resistance and output voltage.

4. Where is a 5K potentiometer commonly used?

It is widely used in volume controls, LED brightness adjustment, motor speed control, and user input interfaces in electronic devices.

5. What are the advantages of using a 5K potentiometer?

A 5K value provides good control for medium-low resistance applications, offering smooth operation, reliable performance, and easy integration into circuits.

This is a carbon track, single turn, adjustable resistances, of value 1KOhm Knob potentiometer. It is meant for mounting on panel and is supplied complete with a knob. The knob is affixed on the plastic spindle of the potentiometer and turns the spindle which changes the resistance. The variation of resistance is linearly proportion to the degree of rotation. Potentiometer, in electronic parlance, is a manually variable resistance. Because its most common consumer application is for controlling volume/tone of sound in broadcast receivers, it is loosely referred to as "volume" or ''tone''. It is not a meter with scale and needle. Potentiometers look different depending on size, power handled, application, value and type of material used. There is, however, a common feature-there is wiper which sweeps over a length of resistive material. The two ends of the resistive material as also the wiper are available to the user as electrical terminations. The user gets a variable resistance between the wiper and the two ends.
