The LCD Keypad Shield is designed for the Arduino UNO and Arduino Leonardo boards, offering full compatibility with the Arduino platform. It is commonly referred to as a navigation shield because it features six momentary push buttons that allow easy menu control and user interaction. In addition to the buttons, the shield includes a 16×2 (2-line, 16-character) LCD display.
This widely used LCD Keypad Shield integrates a 16×2 character display along with six tactile push buttons. The LCD communicates with the Arduino using digital pins 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. An onboard LED indicator shows the power status of the shield.
The 16×2 LCD Shield is an excellent solution for embedded system applications where a compact display is required directly on the Arduino board. Its practical layout allows you to continue using the remaining pins for connecting sensors and other modules. The built-in buttons can be used for menu navigation, parameter selection, system monitoring, or even simple gaming interfaces.
