
The BMP280 Digital Barometric Pressure Sensor Module is a compact, high-precision environmental sensing module designed to measure atmospheric pressure and temperature. Based on the Bosch BMP280 digital pressure sensor, the module uses piezoresistive MEMS sensing technology combined with integrated signal processing and factory calibration data to provide accurate and stable measurements. Atmospheric pressure readings can also be used to estimate altitude, making the module suitable for weather monitoring, navigation, drones, and portable electronic devices.
The BMP280 supports both I2C and SPI communication interfaces, providing flexibility for integration with different microcontroller platforms. The sensor itself operates from 1.71V to 3.6V, while the supported supply voltage of a breakout module depends on its specific PCB design and whether it includes onboard regulation or level shifting. It offers a pressure measurement range of 300hPa to 1100hPa, low power consumption, configurable oversampling, an internal IIR filter, and multiple operating modes.
The module is widely used with Arduino, ESP32, STM32, Raspberry Pi, PIC, AVR, and other development platforms. Its compact design, digital communication, and low power consumption make it ideal for weather stations, digital altimeters, IoT environmental monitoring, GPS navigation enhancement, robotics, and battery-powered sensing applications.
