The TSOP1838 IR Receiving Head is a compact infrared receiver designed to detect and decode 38kHz modulated infrared signals commonly used in remote control systems. It integrates a PIN photodiode, preamplifier, automatic gain control (AGC), band-pass filter, and demodulator into a single package, providing a clean digital output that can be directly connected to a microcontroller.
The TSOP1838 is optimized for reliable reception of infrared remote control signals while offering excellent immunity to ambient light, electrical noise, and interference. It supports most popular IR communication protocols, including NEC, RC5, RC6, Sony SIRC, and similar 38kHz-based protocols, making it suitable for a wide variety of consumer and industrial applications.
Operating from 2.5V to 5.5V, the TSOP1838 is fully compatible with Arduino, ESP32, STM32, Raspberry Pi Pico, AVR, PIC, and other embedded platforms. It is widely used in TV remotes, home automation, robotics, smart appliances, IR communication systems, and DIY electronics projects.
