The Mini PIR Motion Detector Sensor Module – MH-SR602 is a compact and low-power Passive Infrared (PIR) motion sensor designed for detecting the movement of people, animals, and other warm objects within its sensing area. The module detects changes in infrared radiation caused by movement and provides a digital output signal that can be easily read by a microcontroller or control circuit.

The MH-SR602 combines a pyroelectric infrared sensing element, signal-processing circuitry, and a Fresnel lens in a very small package. When motion is detected, the module output changes to a HIGH level of approximately 3.3V. When no motion is detected, the output remains LOW at approximately 0V.

The sensor operates from a wide 3.3V to 15V DC supply range and consumes approximately 20µA in standby, making it suitable for compact and battery-powered motion detection systems. It can detect movement up to approximately 5 metres, with a recommended practical sensing distance of around 0 to 3.5 metres for reliable operation.

The MH-SR602 uses a repeatable trigger operating mode. If motion continues within the sensing area, the output can remain active or retrigger according to the module's internal timing behavior. The default output HIGH duration is approximately 2.5 seconds, and the delay time and sensitivity can be modified on supported board versions by changing designated SMD resistor values.

Its miniature size, wide operating voltage range, low standby current, and simple three-pin interface make the module suitable for security alarms, automatic lighting, smart home devices, battery-powered detectors, robotics, camera activation systems, and other motion-triggered electronics projects.
