The NTC Thermistor Digital Temperature Sensor Module is a compact and sensitive temperature detection module designed for temperature monitoring, threshold detection, overheat protection, alarm systems, and automatic temperature control projects. The module uses an NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) thermistor as its temperature-sensing element and an LM393 voltage comparator to provide a clean digital switching signal.

The NTC thermistor changes its electrical resistance according to temperature. As the temperature increases, the resistance of the NTC thermistor decreases. The onboard comparator circuit compares the sensor signal with a reference level set using the adjustable potentiometer and changes the digital output when the configured temperature threshold is crossed.

The module commonly operates from 3.3V to 5V DC, making it suitable for Arduino, ESP32, ESP8266, STM32, Raspberry Pi Pico, RP2040, PIC, AVR, and other development platforms. Common module versions offer an adjustable digital output, while some 4-pin variants also provide a direct analog output from the thermistor circuit.

With its simple interface, adjustable threshold, onboard status indicators, and compact size, the module is suitable for temperature alarms, cooling fan control, overheating detection, home automation, equipment protection, and educational electronics projects.

FAQ

1. What is the NTC Thermistor Digital Temperature Sensor Module used for?

The module is used for temperature detection and threshold-based control. It is commonly used in temperature alarms, cooling fan controllers, overheat protection systems, home automation, robotics, and microcontroller projects.

2. How does the NTC Thermistor Temperature Sensor Module work?

The module uses an NTC thermistor whose resistance decreases as temperature increases. The LM393 comparator compares the sensor signal with the threshold set by the onboard potentiometer and changes the digital output when the threshold is crossed.

3. Can the temperature detection threshold be adjusted?

Yes. The onboard potentiometer allows the switching threshold of the digital output to be adjusted according to the application's temperature detection requirements.

4. Can this module be used with Arduino and ESP32?

Yes. The module operates from 3.3V to 5V and can be used with Arduino, ESP32, ESP8266, STM32, Raspberry Pi Pico, RP2040, PIC, AVR, and other compatible microcontrollers.

5. Does the NTC Thermistor Sensor Module provide an exact temperature reading?

The digital output is mainly intended for threshold detection rather than direct numerical temperature measurement. Modules with an analog output can be used to estimate temperature, but calibration and suitable conversion calculations are required for accurate readings.
