
The Tower Pro SG90 Micro Servo Motor is a compact and lightweight servo motor designed for precise angular positioning and controlled mechanical movement in robotics, RC models, automation systems, and microcontroller-based projects. Its small size and low weight make it especially suitable for applications where space and weight are important considerations.
The SG90 integrates a small DC motor, reduction gear train, position feedback potentiometer, and internal control electronics in a single compact housing. The user provides a servo control signal representing the desired shaft position, and the internal control circuit automatically drives the motor until the output shaft reaches the commanded angle.
The SG90 uses a lightweight POM plastic gear set and weighs approximately 9 grams. The official specification lists a stall torque of approximately 1.8 kg·cm at 4.8V, making it suitable for lightweight mechanical applications such as robotic arms, small grippers, steering mechanisms, sensor scanners, model aircraft control surfaces, and educational robotics.
The servo uses a standard 3-wire connection for power, ground, and control signal. It can be controlled using Arduino, ESP32, STM32, Raspberry Pi Pico, RP2040, PIC, AVR, RC receivers, and dedicated servo controller boards.
