
The HC-SR04 Ultrasonic Sensor Module is a non-contact distance measurement sensor that uses 40kHz ultrasonic sound waves to accurately measure the distance between the sensor and an object. It consists of an ultrasonic transmitter, receiver, and control circuitry that calculate distance by measuring the time taken for the ultrasonic pulse to travel to an object and return as an echo. It provides reliable distance measurements from 2cm to 400cm with an accuracy of up to ±3mm.
Operating from a 5V DC supply, the HC-SR04 interfaces easily with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32 (using proper logic level conversion on the Echo pin), STM32, PIC, AVR, and other microcontrollers through simple Trigger and Echo digital pins. Its low cost, high accuracy, and easy interfacing make it one of the most popular distance sensors for robotics, obstacle avoidance, parking systems, automation, and educational electronics projects.
