
The US-100 Ultrasonic Sensor Distance Measuring Module with Temperature Compensation is a high-accuracy, non-contact distance measurement sensor designed for obstacle detection, object ranging, robotics, automation, and proximity measurement applications. The module uses ultrasonic sound waves to determine the distance between the sensor and a target object.
The US-100 transmits a burst of ultrasonic waves and measures the time taken for the reflected echo to return. It offers a typical measurement range of 2cm to 450cm and supports both pulse-width Trigger/Echo mode and UART serial communication mode, making it flexible for different microcontroller and embedded-system applications.
A major advantage of the US-100 over basic ultrasonic modules is its temperature compensation capability. Because the speed of sound changes with air temperature, temperature compensation helps improve distance measurement consistency across changing environmental conditions. In UART mode, the module can also provide access to temperature information on commonly documented versions.
The module supports a wide supply range on commonly available versions and can be used with Arduino, ESP32, ESP8266, STM32, Raspberry Pi, RP2040, PIC, AVR, and other development platforms. Its compact design, dual communication modes, wide measuring range, and temperature compensation make it suitable for robotics, tank-level monitoring, parking assistance, security systems, and industrial prototypes.
