The Waveshare Human Micro-Motion Detection mmWave Sensor is a compact 24GHz radar sensor designed for detecting human presence and subtle human movements using millimeter-wave sensing technology. Based on the S3KM1110 radar solution, it uses FMCW (Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave) technology to detect motion that may be difficult to identify using conventional motion sensors.
The sensor is designed for human presence and micro-motion detection, allowing it to detect small movements such as slight body movement while a person is relatively stationary. This makes it useful for smart lighting, occupancy detection, security systems, automation, and intelligent environmental control applications.
Unlike conventional PIR sensors that primarily detect changes in infrared radiation, mmWave radar can detect movement and presence through radio-frequency sensing. The sensor can therefore be useful in applications where continuous human presence detection or detection of subtle movement is required.
